After a meeting with the Chief Minister Pramod Sawant today, the Health Minister, Vishwajit Rane spoke to reporters where he threw light on new SOPs for the tourist season. He made it quite clear that there wouldn’t be a ban on any tourists arriving into the state during new year season.

“We are in the process of issuing the guidelines for the hotel which will make it mandatory to have one room as an Isolation Room in each of their property,” he said while talking about the government drawing new SOPs  for hotels. He also said that the borders would remain open for guests as the season has already begun.

With the new SOP which will be circulated to hotels, they will be required to keep an Isolation Room in which if a guest has tested positive without symptoms can isolate, in the premises of the hotel.

In light of the Covid-19 virus infection and treatment he said that there is consistent monitoring of patients who are in home isolation which has in turn resulted in lower number of mortality cases.

“We don’t get patients in a breathless stage at any more as we are monitoring health condition of each and every patient in home isolation,” he added.

As he continued, he brought up the health infrastructure in Goa which was called ‘poor’ by AAP leader Raghav Chadha, who is currently in the state. Rane went as far as offering a tour of the state run Goa Medical College and Hospital to prove the health infrastructure placed by the Goa government is quite robust.

“I have a friend whose father stays in Delhi, he had to go out of Delhi to take covid treatment as there are no beds available there. People in Delhi have to pay for their treatment while Goa is the only state which provides completely free treatment for COVID-19,” Rane said.

“There are some people who come here and tell us stories. They want to establish base of their party in Goa. We have seen what base they have during last election,” Rane said indirectly referring to AAP.
