Goa state has entered into the second phase of the vaccination drive for the Covid infection and this time it’s time for the Senior Citizens and 45 Plus Co-Morbid persons to get the Jab. The second phase of vaccination will commence on Monday from 11 am on all Government health facilities in Goa.
According to the reports, the phase-3 of national vaccination drive has commenced on Monday and people over 60 and those above 45 with co-morbidities will be able to visit any of the government health facilities from 9 am to 5 pm and register themselves for the jab.
According to the sources, the citizens in the age group of 60 will only need to carry their AADHAR cards or any Government approved ID showing their date of birth and register for the jab while those who are above 45 with Co-Morbidities will have to produce the certificate from doctor mentioning their co-morbidity.
The certificate issued by the medical practitioners should be in a prescribed format by the Government of India.
The government has identified 37 centers across Goa for the 3rd phase of vaccination which begins at 9 am from Monday but the people will start getting their jab only after 11 am, stated the report.
Beneficiaries will get the vaccine on a first-come-first-serve basis. “Registrations can also be done online on the CoWin portal once it is open for the same,” the DHS said.
According to the sources, at the moment the state Government has decided to offer the vaccination only at the approved Government health facilities on the trial basis for the first two days which includes the GMC, South Goa District Hospital, Mapusa, and Ponda Sub District Hospitals, and public and community health centers.
Each center will target 100 doses a day, including the second dose. “It has been decided to offer vaccinations only at government health facilities for the first two days, on a trial basis,” a health official said. These include Goa Medical College (GMC), South Goa district hospital, the Mapusa and Ponda sub-district hospitals.
As far as the private hospitals are concerned, the state government will take the decision only after meeting with the management of the private hospitals, stated the DHS
Although the Union Ministry for Health and Family Welfare has released a list of over 10,000 private hospitals including 13 hospitals from Goa, which can be used by the state government as COVID-19 vaccination centers but the Goa government is yet to take a decision on allowing private hospitals to conduct the vaccination, stated the office of Health Minister of Goa.
According to the reports, the private hospitals identified for vaccination in North Goa are Mardolkar Hospital and Vision Multispecialty Hospital and Savaikar Hospital & Laparoscopy Centre, Usgaonker’s Children Hospital Clinic And Nicu, Ashirwad Urology & Laparoscopy Hospital, Dr. Madkaikar’s City Hospital, Victor Hospitals & Medical Services Ltd, Orthopaedic Hospital For Surgery, Mother Care Hospital, My Eye Hospital, Vishwa Sanjivani Health Centre, Pai Hospital and Vaatsalya Hospital has been selected in the south Goa.
There has been no communication yet on when inoculations will begin in private hospitals. The DHS said that a meeting with the management of private hospitals will be held shortly.
The Centre has capped vaccination charges in private hospitals at Rs 250, while it is free at government hospitals. “There’s no need to panic. Everybody will get the vaccine according to the age-appropriate categories. It’s only a matter of time,” a health official said.
