The very old saying ‘health is wealth‘ seems to be providing strong facts to ponder upon the health concerns on looking the circumstances brought into existence by the chronic life taking virus. Well, the battle against COVID 19 pandemic has not died down however the importance of health care and having a strong immunity has gained a lot of significance.

Although the vaccine is yet to show its profound impact till then ones good immune system will help you to withstand the storm of the virus. Here are some tips to ensure a healthy immunity in these crucial times.

1. Being physically active

As you’re mostly home, a daily dedication or a daily practice of indulging yourself with physical activities, exercises and yoga could play a great role in boosting up your health and keeping you fit. Exercises facilitate a change in the productivity of white blood cells that help you to fight infections. Moreover, it makes you feel healthier and reduces the chance of illness. Doing a set of cardio- aerobics,  stretching and breathing exercises shall ensure better functioning of your body.

2 Ensuring a healthy diet

Having a balanced diet, and a good intake of minerals also performs a key role in boosting up your immunity.  Eating a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables will have a profound effect in boosting your immune function as they are rich in fibre, moreover provide nutrients like beta carotene, vitamin C, vitamin E. Sources of beta carotene include sweet potatoes, carrots and green leafy vegetables. Strawberries, mangoes, lemons, broccoli,  oranges are a great source of vitamin C while spinach, nuts are rich in vitamin – E. Intake of nuts, pumpkin seeds, beans rich in zinc mineral will help your body boost white blood cells.

3 Ample amount of sleep

A sleep-deprived immunity could be fatal in protecting your body from infections. Those who are more sleep-deprived have a high risk of getting contaminated with infections. Therefore a good sleep of 8 hours is said to keep you healthy, decrease stress levels, refreshes your mind, furthermore it helps immune cells to attach to targets and fight the infection.

4 Staying hydrated

Water is known as a natural immune booster that facilitates to improve your health and well being. Its good to stay hydrated all the time as water helps to carry oxygen to your body cells, thus ensures proper functioning of different systems in the human body. It also helps in clearing toxins in the body which usually have a bad impact on the immune system. However, drinking hot water or even lemon juice squeezed in it could be helpful.

5 Staying warm

It’s most likely that we often fall sick during rains or cold climate,  as our extremities become cold it reduces the supply of white blood cells in the circulatory system which play a crucial role in fighting illness. As colder environments become a preferred breeding setting for viruses, therefore, staying warm, drink hot water is most likely to be preferred.

6. Herbal intake to boost your immunity

Ayurveda revolves around the plant and herbal products,  whose intake can supplement in boosting our immunity.  Herbs like Ashwagandha, Moringa, Tulsi leaves, Neem, Turmeric powder, Ginger, black cumin really have a great impact in boosting your immunity.  One can have it raw or also boil it in water, or use it in tea to consume. Herbal remedies have been in long use to fight infections and viruses such as common cold and influenza.
