Incredible Goa magazine found the opportunity to organise an exclusive Awards Night on April 21st, 2018 at the Golden Mile of Goa – The Tito’s. The main aim of the awards was to acknowledge the work of Goans in various fields of specialisation, especially the ones who have been silently contributing to the society without being recognised for it.

Sao Joao is a festival celebrated every year during cooling monsoon season. This particular festival is celebrated in honour of the feast of St. John the Baptist on 24th June. People of Goa enjoy this festival to the core of their heart. Ladies dress in colourful clothes with a garland of flowers, a lei or coronets around their crown. Some even prepare the garland with tiny plums and other fruits. Men and women both participate in various activities while it is raining. We got the opportunity to talk to Mr. Cyril Castelino, one of the producers of Zanvoy No.1 who is in Goa for the promotion of the film. Tristao de Braganza e Cunha a Goan Patriot par excellence hailed as the “Father of Goan Nationalism” was born on 2nd April 1981 with a silver spoon in his mouth at his Grandmothers Palatial residence (House of Menezes Braganza) in Chandor, the ancient capital of Kadambas. His Father Dr. Ligorio de Cunha was a prominent medical practiotioner. On completing his primary education in Portuguese, he joined the Portuguese Lyceum for his secondary school education. But the pompous & unimaginative methods of teaching there disillustioned young Tristao so much that he made up his mind to give up his Portuguese studies. On convincing his parents about his interest in learning French, he proceded to pondichery, a former French colony where he sought admission in a French College & obtained his Baccalaureate (BA Degree). From there he sailed to Parid to join Sorbourne University where he took a Degree in Electrical Engineering. For a while he made his living as an Engineer in France in early 1920’s.
My name is Anthony Gonsalves is one of the most famous songs that was picturized on the superstar of Indian film industry, Shri Amitabh Bachchan Ji, in an epic movie “Amar Akbar Anthony” but how many of you know that the song was a tribute from Shri Pyarelal Ji (Laxmikant – Pyarelal duo) to the legendary Goan composer and the music arranger of the Indian music industry, Bab Anthony Gonsalves. Mr. Anthony Gonsalves lived his life away from the limelight of Bombay film industry, in a small scenic village of Majorda, near Margao in south Goa. He was the first and the only person from Goa to receive the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award.
