Destiny is something nobody can predict, it does not matter how big you are, but the ultimate truth remains the same. Death is inevitable, but the way one leaves this world is what decides their fate. Here, in this case, the wife of a former cabinet minister of Goa was found dead in an apartment situated at Panaji, shockingly when police recovered her body, it had already started decomposing.

According to the sources, a woman’s dead body was found in a highly decomposed state in the apartment situated on the third floor at a residential building at Patto Panaji, on Monday.

The body of the deceased was identified as Geeta Ratnakar Chopdekar, a 65-year-old Wife of the former cabinet minister of Goa Mr. Ratnakar Chopdekar, said the sources.

Ratnakar Chopdekar had represented Aldona constituency after a giant-killing victory over former Deputy CM Dayanand Narvekar in the first election after Goa attained Statehood in 1989.

The Police on finding the body tried to contact the relatives of the deceased and handed over the body to the children from the deceased’s previous marriage.

Reportedly, the deceased Geeta had been living alone from several years in her flat seated on Patto Panaji.

According to The Goan, her husband Ratnakar Chopdekar was elected from Aldona Constituency and was a minister for Inland Waterways, Provedoria and Public Assistance and fisheries in the Ravi Naik-led Congress government in the 1990s.

What is more shocking is the fact that the whereabouts of Chopdekar is also unknown for the last several years.

The Police stated that the death occurred maybe four or five days ago and a case of unnatural death has been registered on the woman.

Geeta’s death has been registered under section 174 IPC and her body has been sent to the morgue at Goa Medical College, Bambolim and an autopsy will be carried out before handing over the body to her children.

This is not the first time an unusual incident of death has come to light. A similar case of the woman found dead in her flat was reported in Porvorim.

The skeletal remain of a 56-year old woman was found in a flat and was identified to be a wife of the late journalist and freedom fighter Vaman Radhakrishna.  Stating the causes of death to be ascertained, Police had suspected that woman died four months ago before being discovered.
