The Commissioner for NRI Affairs (Goa) Narendra Sawaikar told the media that he is working on getting more information about the Goan seafarers on-board and he has also requested the Indian Embassy about submitting the report on the current situation onboard of Diamond Princess.

“The families of the Goan seafarers are extremely worried and anxious to know about the well being of their family members who are on board the cruise ship.  In view of the above, the NRI Commission, Government of Goa would be highly obliged, if the Embassy of India would kindly appraise us on the current status of the Goan seafarers onboard the ship.  The assistance from your office would be highly appreciated and this would enable us to inform the concerned family members accordingly,” Sawaikar said in a letter to the Ambassador of India, Embassy of India, Tokyo, on Monday.

Commissioner for NRI Affairs (Goa) Narendra Sawaikar has approached the Embassy of India in Tokyo seeking the status of the health of Goans stranded on the ship as the number of Indians on board the coronavirus-hit cruise ship Diamond Princess increases every passing day.
